Barrett-Smith & Doulton is an estate planning firm providing Will writing, Lasting Power of Attorney, Trust, Severance of Tenancy, and Life Pack services across Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website and services.
2. Services
We provide estate planning services including but not limited to: Will drafting, Lasting Power of Attorney preparation and registration, Trust creation, Severance of Tenancy, Letter of Wishes, and Life Packs. All services are subject to a separate engagement letter which will be provided before work commences.
3. Free Consultation
We offer a free initial consultation to discuss your estate planning needs. This consultation is without obligation and is designed to help you understand the services available to you. No fees are payable until you instruct us to proceed with specific services.
4. Fees and Payment
Our fees are clearly communicated during your consultation and confirmed in writing before any work begins. Prices displayed on our website are indicative starting prices and may vary depending on the complexity of your circumstances. Payment terms will be specified in your engagement letter.
5. Cancellation
You have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date you instruct us to proceed, during which you may cancel without charge. If work has already commenced at your request during the cooling-off period, you may be charged for work completed. After the cooling-off period, cancellation charges may apply as specified in your engagement letter.
6. Client Responsibilities
You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information about your circumstances, assets, and wishes. You must inform us of any changes to your circumstances that may affect the documents we prepare. You are responsible for reviewing all documents carefully before signing.
7. Professional Standards
Our estate planners operate in accordance with professional standards and codes of practice. We carry professional indemnity insurance to protect our clients. We are committed to providing services with reasonable care and skill.
8. Limitation of Liability
Our liability to you for any loss or damage arising from our services is limited to the amount of our professional indemnity insurance cover. We are not liable for any loss arising from information that you provide to us that is inaccurate or incomplete. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence.
9. Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, images, and design, is the property of Barrett-Smith & Doulton and is protected by copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content without our written permission.
10. Complaints
We are committed to providing an excellent service. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, please contact us in the first instance so that we can resolve the matter. We have a formal complaints procedure which we will share with you upon request.
11. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
